As a remote worker, you might think you have everything you need to pick up your office and work from anywhere. After all, that’s the whole point of remote work, right?
That’s what I thought, too. And, sure, I can get by with just my laptop and a WiFi connection. But the more I work while traveling, the more I’ve discovered things that can make my life easier by saving me time so I can get my work done and get to the vacation part of “workation” faster!
Portable Monitor
I didn’t even think of this one. Instead, I apparently drove my husband crazy when he watched me work from my laptop and flip between tabs and software. He got me this dual monitor from KYY for my birthday last year, and I have to admit, he was right. It is lightweight, so I can slip it in my bag no problem. And it takes exactly 2 seconds to set up and connect to my laptop. It has been a game-changer with ghostwriting, where I tend to work from a transcript, so I can keep that open on the spare monitor and do all my work on my laptop.

Fanny Pack
Yes, I look like a dork. But wearing a fanny pack while I’m traveling solo makes sure I don’t accidentally leave stuff behind. I use it on excursions and when I’m wandering around the ship (especially if I know I will be having a drink or two). If you are forgetful like me when your hands get full, it might be worth investing in something that will hold your stuff that you can forget you’re wearing.
Glasses Holder
It’s not so much that I use six pairs of sunglasses as that this travel sunglasses carrier lets me put glasses right on the top pouch while I’m showering. This keeps me from fumbling around afterward. Again, we can thank my husband for this idea. He has had to help me find them more times than I would like to admit, and wonders how I manage to leave my cabin in one piece without him.
I use the rest of the pouches for jewelry, chapstick, and hair ties (which I also tend to lose all the time).

Kindle
I definitely prefer hard copies of books, but they take up so much space that I need for other things, like my laptop and portable monitor. I still have my original Kindle White from like 15 years ago that I dust off for trips. I prefer that because it reads without the glare, so you can actually use it on the pool deck.
What are some accessories and tools that you bring with you when you’re traveling while working? Let me know in the comments or DM me on Instagram @the.seasuite.
